Carbon steel castings that are made using green or chemical sand moulding as well as investment cast:

- have excellent mechanical resistance characteristics (fatigue behaviour);
- make it possible to cast complex shapes that integrate a number of functions (e.g.: junction node) and can be welded;
- become distorted gradually due to creep under excessive stress without breaking (and therefore ensure safety);
- can be made from a wide range of alloy grades that confer good resistance to wear, corrosion, chemical agents, high and low temperatures, repeated impacts, etc.;
- can be obtained with varying degrees of precision and finishing depending on the process being used;
- can receive thermal treatments (chill, tempering, etc.) to improve resistance, notably to wear.
